A Rioja icon, the wines of Vina Real are made using modern technology but to an ancient recipe - one that recognises the role of oak in texture and weight, but doesn't make it the only ingredient. The wine immediately presents as round and dense, with plenty of oak influence on the nose. There's an abundance of golden fruits, as though very ripe - lots of pear, peach and quince. The wine is also quite floral, in a honeydew/sunflower/daisy kind of way. Despite the rich, caramelised notes, there's still freshness to the finish, along with some spicy coconut notes. There's a gentle trail of acidity to round out this generously proportioned white.
