Q: What challenge rulesets are you playing with? A gender-agnostic version of the official Wedlocke rules, as invented by ‪@marriland‬ back in 2012. You can watch a video here if you don't want to read below:    • Pokemon Wedlocke Challenge Rules (Nuzlocke...   In the Wedlocke variant of the Nuzlocke challenge, Pokemon are assigned into “pairs” based on gender. Normal catching rules apply (one per route, first encounter only) with the following modification: If you currently have an “unpaired” Pokemon in your party, the first wild Pokemon you catch becomes its "partner". Once two Pokemon are obtained in this manner, they form a “couple”, and must follow certain rules in battle: (NOTE: I AM allowing genderless Pokémon, too.) Once one member of a couple enters a battle, only that couple may be used in that encounter. You may not switch to another Pokemon that is not your active Pokemon’s partner. Essentially, the couple must fight together as a mini-team, without help from other Pokemon. If a Pokemon is knocked out, its partner must “avenge it” or die trying; you may not switch to any other Pokemon. If both members of the couple are knocked out, another couple may be used, and must follow the same rules. If one member of a couple is knocked out but the other survives the battle, the surviving partner becomes unpaired and a new partner must be assigned to it from the box. This, of course, is in addition to base Nuzlocke rules: A Nuzlocke is a Pokémon challenge run, intended to create a unique and more challenging gameplay experience through a set of self-imposed rules. While there are many optional rules and restrictions you could include, a Nuzlocke challenge consists of three basic rules: 1) Any Pokémon that faints must be released or boxed permanently. It is considered “dead” for the rest of the challenge. 2) Only the first wild Pokémon encountered in a route or area can be caught. If the player fails to catch it (ie. it flees or faints), their opportunity to catch a Pokémon in that area is lost. 3) The player must nickname all Pokémon they catch or obtain. (This is not technically necessary for the challenge run, but is universally accepted as part of a Nuzlocke.)
