Amtrak 208 was part of the first batch of 30 F40's delivered to amtrak in 1976. It was based on the east coast and mainly ran on the shorter runs throughout the Northeast. While many of the F40's have been sold off or scrapped, 208 was converted into a cabcar/baggage car in the mid 90's for service in Amtrak's Midwest pool. In 2006, (now numbered 90208), it was relocated to the west coast pool for service on the Pacific Surfliner trains from LA to San Luis Obispo. Who knows what else the future holds for 208.
