I was lucky enough to enjoy Hawksbill Crag completely alone...which is rare! Hawksbill Crag, also known as Whitaker Point, is notoriously known as the most photographed spot in Arkansas. Today I get to enjoy it by myself. This hike can be found down the gravel road #9560 about 6 miles south of Highway 21.It's just a short drive from Ponca, Arkansas. The hike itself is 3 miles roundtrip and is a pretty easy hike once you get past the first hill at the beginning. Warning signs are displayed in many places to warn of the steep cliffs so be careful...people have died here getting a picture on the edge. This is one of the top hikes in this part of Arkansas and I'd highly recommend getting there early. This is one of the best hikes in Arkansas and if you are anywhere close to Ponca, Jasper, or Kingston, then you should definitely check this hike out. This is also a short drive from the Buffalo National River and Boxley Valley. NOTE: Check on the road conditions as they can get too rough for cars if there has been a lot of rain... so be careful!
