Breathless

This song was a poem in 2003. A year later I decided it made for a better song than a poem. This is the end result of that. This is one of those "lost recordings" that I had stashed away in a packed up catalogue of CDs of my stuff. My wife ran back across these old binders and cases of CDs and now I've gone back thru most of the entire collection and am putting them online for safekeeping and easier access. This song is about 9:28 in length. It is the lengthiest song I've ever written and recorded. I would describe it as classical, smooth jazz, funk fusion in style. It's at about the 6:15-6:18 mark in the song that it transitions from one style to the next. The "funky munkey" comes out to play from that point on and there was QUITE a bit of improv going down in studio in that final 3 minutes of the recording. It was fun to say the least. This song marks the end of the recorded material of my own copyrighted stuff. I have other songs written and much more to write but nothing else of mine beyond this song is recorded as of yet. That's my next big goal musically however. To get back into doing what I love most - writing, singing and recording my own stuff again. It's a lot of work and a lot of time consumed honing you craft but from a musical fulfillment standpoint, between my bugling missions and writing/recording/singing my own songs, nothing else compares.
