In this video, I take you on a walking tour through one of my favourite parts of Moscow, starting at beautiful Novodevichy Park and the frozen Novodevichy Pond in winter. We explore the UNESCO-listed Novodevichy Convent, home to stunning Moscow Baroque architecture dating back to the 16th century and one of the most important historical landmarks in Russia. From there, I walk through classic Soviet-era housing districts and small urban parks near Sportivnaya metro station, giving you a real look at everyday life in Moscow away from the tourist centre. We visit quiet courtyards (dvors), hidden green spaces, and residential neighbourhoods that most visitors never see. Along the way, we pass through Usachevsky Market, take a look at the modern Sadovyi Kvartal luxury housing development, and compare old and new Moscow living side by side. I also show you inside a typical Soviet courtyard and talk to local residents, including a young musician named Daniel, who shares his music with us. This video is part of my Moscow Uncut series, where I show you real life in Russia without filters — from historic landmarks and Soviet neighbourhoods to modern developments and local stories.
