Strengthening document security in Senegal | Project highlights | ICMPD

EN Between September and December 2025, the pilot project “Strengthening document security and the fight against documentary fraud through capacity-strengthening in Senegal” equipped 35 Senegalese border officials with the fundamental skills and competencies to detect falsified documents and imposters at key border crossing points in the country, contributing to safer, more resilient borders. Amongst them, 11 trainers also followed a course where they learned basic teaching principles, developing their expertise as trainers. Implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), with the technical support of ICMPD’s Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean, and funded by the Ministry of Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland, this pilot yielded promising results for the development of locally owned training systems and laid the groundwork for future initiatives focused on developing and consolidating a network of national trainers on document security. Shot in Dakar in December 2025, this video sheds light on why document security is a shared priority for Senegal and Poland alike, and features stakeholder interviews, training sessions visuals, and testimonials from trainers and participants. FR Entre septembre et décembre 2025, le projet pilote « Renforcer la sécurité des documents et la lutte contre la fraude documentaire à travers le renforcement des capacités au Sénégal » a permis à 35 garde-frontières sénégalais d’acquérir des compétences fondamentales en matière de détection des documents falsifiés et des impostures aux principaux postes frontaliers du Sénégal, contribuant à une gestion plus sûre et résiliente des frontières. Parmi eux, 11 formateurs ont également suivi un programme où ils se sont familiarisés avec les principes d’enseignement de base, développant ainsi leur expertise en tant que formateurs. Mis en œuvre par le Centre international pour le développement des politiques migratoires (ICMPD), avec le soutien technique de l’Institut de Formation sur le Partenariat pour les Capacités migratoires en Méditerranée, et financé par le ministère de l’Intérieur et de l’Administration de la République de Pologne, le projet pilote a livré des résultats prometteurs pour développer des systèmes de formation pilotés localement, et a posé les jalons nécessaires à de futures initiatives axées sur le développement et la consolidation d’un réseau national de formateurs en sécurité documentaire.
