Here's Part A of our trip down memory lane video covering the Socket A. We start by remembering the first Socket A CPU, the Athlons that used a 180nm Thunderbird core. We then move on to the 180nm Palomino core that powered the first Athlon XP chips before looking at the two 130nm Thoroughbred cores. See Part B for more about the last core used in AMD's Socket A CPUs, the Barton core. Also included are some honourable mentions for the cores used in the Duron chips that were derived from their bigger brother Athlons: the Spitfire, Morgan and Applebred cores. This is all done to the backgrop of Abit's NF7-M, an nForce2 IGP based motherboard. Apologies for the sometimes quite shaky camera work.
