Part of my Transience series - submerged flowers with colours and techniques to reflect folklore, fairy tales, history, flowers meanings, life event or celebrations of the pagan wheel of the year. Hyacinths - In Greek mythology, the young Hyacinthus was admired by both Apollo and Zephyr. It is said that whilst Apollo was teaching Hyacinthus the art of throwing the discus, Zephyr became jealous and blew a strong gust of wind during the discus throwing, causing it to veer off course and hit Hyacinthus on the head , killing him. Apollo was devastated and refused to let Hades claim him. Instead he used his powers to transform him into a beautiful flower - Hyacinths. As a result of this story Hyacinths are often associated with love, beauty, power, rebirth, jealousy, death, and mourning. Basing my photoshoot on this, I chose my colours to reflect as much of this that I couls. Starting with white for rebirth, adding pink for love, green in the background for jealousy and finally black for death, sorrow and mourning. I also added a little silver for the magic of turning Hyacinthus into a flower and the magic of the Greek Gods. The video is sped up and shows the sequence I went through followed by the resulting images. Check out my website for more www.angiwallacephotography.com If you would like to learn how I create my submerged flower images I have a comprehensive tutorial available here - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/17013... Come and join me for a presentation all about my floral photography on Camversation. The talk is recorded so you get the chance to watch it at a later date too and its only £5. I will be taking you on a journey of how I first got into flower photography around 17 years ago and how that progressed and influenced several other genres I have enjoyed. Then moving on to my submerged flower photography with back stories to do with folklore, myths, history and the meanings of flowers.
