Background introduction /背景介绍 "Itako bamboo hat" is Yukio Hashi 's debut single released on July 5, 1960 . In 1961, a movie with the same title based on this work was released. It is Yukio Hashi's debut song and is a representative work of Mata Tabi songs. The lyrics and composition are Takao Saeki and Tadashi Yoshida, who are Hashi's teachers. Originally, when Saeki visited Itako water town in Ibaraki, he was fascinated by the scene and created it. Hashi won the New Artist Award at the 2nd Japan Record Awards for this song in 1960. Hashi made his first appearance in the 11th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen in 1960 with this song. It was also sung at the 24th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen in 1973. In July 2005, to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Hashi's debut, a monument with the first lyrics of this song engraved was erected at Maekawa Ayame Garden in Itako City, Ibaraki Prefecture, which was the stage of this song.
