I was given the opportunity by my friends at Airsoft 97 to check out their original design for a new airsoft blaster, the Combat Artisan Tactical, or C.A.T. for short. This CAT model in paricular is the Versatile model, allowing it to use a wide range of magazine types. The CAT has a mechanical precocking mechanism that allows for a more realistic feel to shooting, with a trigger wall break that instantly launches a round; as opposed to more classic designed AEG's that have a delay while winding up. It also has a unique gearbox split between the upper and lower receiver, allowing smarter teching work and maintenance on the blaster itself. It also has a unique gear that can be adjusted to the battery power to ensure the precocking system is functioning optimally. My favorite feature of this blaster is certainly the magazine compatibility; being able to run AK mags, AR mags, and PCC mags. It allows for quite a bit of originality; and it's versatility reminds me of the old Crye AVS to an extent. Hikaru-san is the current store manager for Okinawa, while the store owner is Kiyuna-san. I have known both of them for well over a decade now, and it's been exciting to see all the cool and unique stuff they have created for the airsoft market place. When they told me about the new blaster they had in production, I was pretty excited to try it out. I was also quite surprised when I saw that they had even gotten the model out internationally; using a variety of distributors for their new product. They also have a new Mk.18 model thats out, but currently only in Japan with no current plan to export. I got to model for that one a couple weeks ago and it was a good time. It was fun to do some work on airsoft blasters again, although my videos are usually on gear. Hope this has been interesting to all of you and I look forward to seeing what other new inventions Airsoft 97 brings to the market in the comming years. Cheers!
