A quick mid-2025 tour of my server rack to show it's current status. I like documenting my homelab evolution over time and to share with those who may be interested in such things. I decided to do this quick video because I had plans to change around something and realized that I hadn't documented my current setup where I am using OPNsense in a VM on my Proxmox cluster. This video was filmed after I made a few changes such as migrate my Proxmox Backup Server to a different Protectli mini PC so that I can move OPNsense back to physical hardware. I also am making use of my old Qotom mini PC as a second Proxmox Backup Server. It automatically is synched with my primary PBS system so that I can use either PBS server in my Proxmox cluster if one of the systems fails. I also migrated my TrueNAS replication target (my 2nd TrueNAS system) from using the ZimaBlade to different hardware (which I covered in a previous video). The theme for 2025 has been 'redundancy' since I added a 2nd PBS system as well as improved my TrueNAS replication system so that I can be able to expand beyond 2 hard drives for storage. I throw all of my old hard drives on the replication server to make it more cost effective. If my replication system fails, I can simply rebuild it since it's just an extra copy of data just in case something bad happens. There is still room for improvement with redundancy such as setting up a redundant firewall and configuring/connecting my switches in such a way that a failure minimizes how much of my network goes down (but network switch redundancy is the least of my concerns because network switches typically last a very long time assuming there are no power surges, for example).
