Greetings, A subscriber sent in his Rodgers AR Daisy Model 75 Scout to fix some abutment washer issues and find out why this little gun just would not shoot. Once I got washer reinstalled and secure I took a look at his seal set as the compression cup and abutment seal appeared to be new and the gun still would not shoot. In Daisyland there are two basic choices in seal sets, the small set used in the current production Model 25 as well as the wide body Daisy Model 499 and the large seal set used in the Red Ryder platform as well as the Model 105B Buck, Model 1999 and the Model 10 if you can find one. In days of yore (pre 1958) there was only the small seal set. It was used in the small frame 101/102/103 series, the #111 Model 40 and a host of other models based of the 101 series guns like the Model 75 Scout. Flash forward to the move to Rodgers Arkansas in 1958 and the company shifted to the larger compression chamber used in todays Red Ryder for most of it's product line but retained the smaller seal set and compression chambers for the ongoing production of the Model 25 as well as the wide body Daisy's descended from the Model 140/141/142. The subscribers gun was a Rodgers AR production unit and as a result needed the larger Red Ryder seal set. Once installed with a Cobalt 327 mainspring, an overbore 7/64 air tube and the original short shot tube, it was really cranking out the velocity. A remarkable 10 shot average of 334 FPS out of a short barrel bottlecap! Thanks for watching!
