They added Shiva, Max, Estel, and SOR3 Roo as playable characters, made a higher difficulty mode that you see here, a roguelike survival mode, a training mode, character balance changes, alternate colors, and new blitz, special, and star attacks for every character in the game. And it only costs $8 (with a 10% launch discount right now)! They went above and beyond with this update in my opinion. It's an incredible value. I was looking forward to playing Shiva the most, so I had to try Mania+ with him first. He's an absolute beast, and easily one of the best (and most fun) characters in the game. I only experimented with his two movesets a little, but his flying kick blitz attack is definitely better than the final crash, and I think his second star attack that summons the phantoms is more useful for clearing out screens of enemies. His other star attack is better for extending your combo, but that's not really necessary. I think his other forward+special might be better than the one I use in this video, since this attack leaves him vulnerable, but I haven't really tried it out yet. This attack is still decent though, you just need to be careful with how you use it. Mania+ is a fun new addition. The score requirement for the S-rank seems to be the same as Mania, so all of the extra enemies can make it easier to reach (although that also means there's more opportunities to get hit and lose a big combo...) For the most part, it's not that much harder than Mania, but some stages can get a little crazy. Like the area before the Ms. Y fight in the final stage, I was still getting overwhelmed while using both of my star attacks lol. This run had a few bad deaths and costly combo drops, but I knew a no death clear wouldn't happen without quite a bit of practice. Maybe I'll try that in the future.
