How do you know when you’re really ready to retire — and why do so many people keep saying “just one more year”? In this video, we have an honest conversation about something many people approaching retirement quietly wrestle with: the feeling that maybe we should already be there… even if our life took a different path. Like many people, we watch videos of others retiring at 55 — or even earlier — and sometimes feel two things at the same time. We’re happy for them. But there’s also that small voice that wonders: “Should we be there too?” We’re getting close to retirement ourselves, and technically… we could probably make it work soon. But somehow we keep coming back to the same phrase: “Maybe one more year.” Our story doesn’t look like many of the early retirement stories online. For most of our adult lives, our focus wasn’t retiring early — it was raising five kids, building a stable home, and getting through each season of life the best we could. At one point we even had three kids in college at the same time, and retirement planning wasn’t exactly the priority. Like many families, we were simply doing the next right thing. Now we’re in a different season of life, and a new question has started to surface: When is enough… enough? In this video we talk about: • Why retirement timelines look different for every family • The quiet pressure that comes from comparing ourselves to early retirees • Why “one more year” can feel like the safest choice • And how life decisions made years ago can shape when retirement actually happens If you’re in that stage of life where retirement is starting to feel real — but the decision still feels complicated — you’re definitely not alone. This channel is about real conversations about retirement and life transitions. No pretending we have everything perfectly figured out. Just sharing the journey and figuring it out along the way. 👇 We’d love to hear from you in the comments: Did you retire early? Are you planning to? Or are you in that same “one more year” phase?
