Patients are the focus of everything we do at Pfizer. From the earliest stage of drug development to the final approval and use of our medicines and vaccines, we work with, and for, patients, advocates and caregivers to embed the patient perspective across our work. Through the years, Pfizer Oncology has cultivated relationships with patient advocacy groups across therapeutic areas with a common goal to ensure equity for all. Many stakeholders address different aspects of the issues that patients face, but many best practices are siloed by organization and therapeutic area. Variation in care and barriers to access to quality care across the US continues to persist. In 2019, leaders at Pfizer and advocacy leaders launched a new dynamic way of working, a more thoughtful approach to work on issues and find solutions around the patients. We launched our Pfizer Oncology Patient Centric Ecosystem (POPCE). POPCE brings together +65 oncology advocacy organizations and leaders to work together with Pfizer leaders to understand key issues, share best practices & diverse perspectives, identify solutions, and execute actions that collectively address problems that create barriers for cancer patients across the US. Our activities elevate and integrate the patient’s voice, so that it is the FIRST thought before innovation, the ever-present thought in development and the central driving force in how we deliver breakthroughs to change patients’ lives.
