Date filmed: Monday the 24th of March 2025 Videos filmed between 13:21 and 14:04 Route(s): West Coastway Line / Portsmouth Direct Line Bedhampton (BDH) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: West Street, Havant (PO9 1NL) A bulk of more footage from this very busy level crossing in the west of Havant, just outside of Portsmouth on the South Coast in Hampshire. Within just over a month of filming, four 2023-plate new barriers were all installed here to replace aging ones from 1979, and the new ones are much brighter and more visible compared to the ones they replaced. Given how a lot of newer barriers age, you can all but guarantee that these ones' pristine conditions will be short-lived. The rest of the crossing despite that is un-changed, and one alarm is still unusually high-pitched and also appears to be suffering from some interference (this does not happen during every lowering, though). This crossing is also on the very busy section of line shared between the West Coastway and Portsmouth Direct Lines, and delays here are prevalent. Various trains and workings feature throughout, topped off by an early-running Class 153 Railcar inspection train doing duties on the Portsmouth Direct Line, part of Network Rail's 'Video Inspection Unit' fleet. The unit here is designated 'Video Inspection Unit 1', and is ex-East Midlands Railway (this unit has been seen by me before in its past life). Hope you enjoy!
