We tackle a list of issues on the ‘71 MGBGT that is turning into a “problem child” but is still well-loved and daily driven by a teenager that we’ve seen several times in the past on this channel. We start with the main reason it’s back in the shop…it wont start and we believe it could be a repeat of a previous issue with the starter. Then we move on to investigate a miss in the engine he’s been chasing. After resolving those problems, we begin to address some smaller issues with the boot (trunk) latch, heater controls and brightening up the gauges with new LED bulbs before we pull the drivers seat out to fix a mounting issue that’s letting the seat move around. That’s when we discover that previous repairs done to the car were…. Shall we say, not quite up to par, misrepresented and well hidden by whoever first sold it after those repairs were completed.
