Recently published, and subject of an open access Medical Journal of Australia supplement, the fourth edition of the National Guidelines for the Treatment of Alcohol Problems are unprecedented in scope and depth, the main document running to 300 pages and the parallel evidence document to 600 pages. The general participant in this seminar series may not have the leisure to explore 900 pages in depth. Here we aim to condense into 60 minutes, in an interview and Q+A format, the key questions driving, the methods used, the main findings, the clinical implications and future directions arising out of this monumental work of collaboration of more than sixty of the nation’s most prominent figures in the field. Prof Paul Haber as chair of the Guidelines project will lead the panel of authors, with Dr Richard Hallinan as moderator for questions from experts and participants. To round out the event, two cases studies will test the limits of the Guidelines, as presented by Dr Geoff Arthurson and Dr Ricky Harjanto FRACGP of Drug Health Services in South Western Sydney Local Health District. The Sydney Addiction Seminar series is kindly sponsored by Indivior. To access the Guidelines for the Treatment of Alcohol Problems, visit the website: https://alcoholtreatmentguidelines.co...
