CNW Weekend At The Illinois Railway Museum 5/18/24

It's good to be back. Today we made our first visit to the Illinois Railway Museum for the 2024 Season for the museum's Chicago & Northwestern Weekend, a weekend celebrating all things CNW. The museum held a CNW weekend back in 2017, however I couldn't attend that event so attending this was a treat. One of the highlights of the event was the recently touched up CNW 1689 as well as a guest appearance by Union Pacific's CNW Heritage Unit. In addition to the CNW units running around, Rock Island 4506 was temporarily patched to be a CNW unit once again for the event. Over all it was a really nice day for action at the IRM, even if some things didn't go as planned with one of the major ones being CNW 6847 breaking down on the coach train, but it was overall a fun day. As well as the CNW equipment making appearances, we'll also see some of the other IRM engines waiting out the day for their time to shine including Frisco 1630 and the recently restored CNW Wrecker Crane #6363. But for now, enjoy some CNW action at the IRM. Enjoy!
