February 2, 1991. This takes place at Charlotte High School in Michigan. Detroit Country Day was coming off of Back-to-Back state championships and would go on to win a third 1991. Parading their #1 high school player in the nation, Chris Webber around the state of Michigan, Country Day visits Charlotte. Despite having all five senior starters graduate from a 16-5 team the year before, Charlotte comes into this game with a surprising 10-2 record. Charlotte gives the eventual state champions all they can handle in this game. Chris Webber puts on a legendary performance scoring 33 points, including 8 dunks. Eric Menk, just a junior during this game and unknown outside of the Lansing area, puts his name on the map with 28 points. Michigan State, who was heavily recruiting Webber at the time, had the entire '91 Spartans roster in attendance sitting behind the Charlotte bench. In this video, you can see Spartan All-American Steve Smith enter the building as he is followed by a crowd of Charlotte kids. A classic game from a classic time.
