Technical Expert for persons with deafblindness explaining the importance of the Hub

My name is Namakikka Lydia, and I am the Technical Expert for Persons with Deafblindness at Sense International Uganda. I learned about the Global Resource Hub when I attended its launch in Kampala some time back. The Hub is very helpful — it is like a teacher where there is no teacher. It gives us access to important information that we can use in our work. When I go into the field to support parents, I keep referring them to the Hub and guiding them on how to use the information available there. Through the Hub, they are able to learn and find practical ways to support their children. I often use the videos and other materials, especially those explaining who a person with deafblindness is, the different types, key facts, advocacy issues, and important laws such as the Disability Act. The Hub provides a lot of valuable information for anyone working with persons who have complex disabilities. I would like to thank Sense International for designing the Hub and ensuring that it reaches us. I continue to encourage parents and service providers to use it because it offers practical guidance on how to support persons with deafblindness. It is truly a very good resource.
