Today, we’re going to take a look at 6 different types of commercial adhesive. This video will include: Structural adhesives Construction adhesives Spray adhesives Contact adhesives Instant adhesives Hot-melt adhesives Let’s jump in. First, we have structural adhesives. There are three kinds of structural adhesives, epoxy, acrylic, and urethane. This type of adhesive is used for load-bearing applications because it’s extremely strong. Next up are construction adhesives. There is both general-purpose and specialized-use construction adhesive. This adhesive is used to permanently bond building materials together. You might use this adhesive when working with concrete, floor tiles, or drywall. Spray adhesives are third on the list. Because this adhesive is aerosolized, it can cover a large surface with thin, even coats. Spray adhesives are good for binding objects with a large surface area, like wood or laminate. Following that, we have contact adhesives. Examples include rubber cement and other liquid glues. These adhesives have a long dry time; useful for making adjustments before the glue sets. On the other end of the spectrum, there are instant adhesives. Instant adhesives come in bottles or tubes with an applicator tip. It dries, as you may have guessed, instantly. While there are general-purpose instant adhesives, there are also products made specifically for plastics and metals. Lastly, we have hot melt adhesives. Typically used in carpentry and for metalwork, this type of adhesive uses a glue gun and sticks of solid adhesive to create a liquid that can easily flow into gaps and cracks. Thank you for watching.
