US President Donald Trump said that he will be involved “indirectly” in upcoming talks between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program. The negotiations are set to begin Tuesday in Geneva. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump described the talks as “very important,” while making clear he expects to play a behind-the-scenes role in shaping the outcome. Tensions are escalating ahead of the high-stakes negotiations. The United States has deployed a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, and US officials told Reuters the military is preparing for the possibility of a sustained campaign if diplomacy fails. When asked about the likelihood of a deal, Trump suggested Iran understands the risks of not reaching an agreement. He referenced last summer’s US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites, saying Tehran had learned the consequences of a hardened negotiating stance. “I don’t think they want the consequences of not making a deal,” Trump said. Previous talks stalled over Washington’s demand that Iran abandon uranium enrichment on its soil — a capability the US sees as a potential pathway to a nuclear weapon. Meanwhile, Iran’s civil defense organization conducted a chemical defense drill Monday in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in southern Iran, underscoring heightened preparedness amid growing regional tensions. #Trump #DonaldTrump #Iran #IranNuclear #GenevaTalks #USDiplomacy #USIran #MiddleEast #NuclearDeal #BreakingNews #Geopolitics #ForeignPolicy #AirForceOne #MilitaryTensions #USMilitary #AircraftCarrier Join this channel to get access to perks: / @apt_news
