The JaPOW Factor: Hokkaido's Rusutsu, Furano, Kamui & Tomamu We head to Hokkaido, Japan for a January ski trip. Day 1: Late flight from Tokyo to Chitose, pick up a rental car and drive to Rusutsu Resort Days: 2-5: Skiing at Rusutsu - we hit the sweet spot of a storm day followed by a bluebird powder day - JAPOW! We bought an early bird pass which gave us 30 hours (we had some to spare so could have had another day) Day 5: Post skiing drive on to Furano. We arrived to find our booking didn;t start untl the next night. Whoops, we had a gap in our bookings. Fortunately, the wonderful Lavender Pension found us a room for the extra night. Day 6: Rest day. We went for a drive to a forest hot spring and an onsen. Day 7-8: Skiing the pristine corduroy of Furano - hard and fast and limited trees Day 9-10: We drove an hour to Kamui for some more powder and wonderful tree runs Day 11: We headed to Tomamu for the day before heading back to drop off the car and going into Sapporo for two nights, one day.
