Malt Strategy (formerly: Comatch), Consultport and Consultingheads are three well-established freelance consulting marketplaces, which help independent freelance consultants (often former McKinsey, BCG and Bain consultants) to get clients. In this review and comparison of Malt Strategy (Comatch), Consultport and Consultingheads, I explain the business model of consulting marketplaces, explain how to join these consulting freelance platforms and share my opinion on their strengths and weaknesses as observed by myself during the onboarding processes - and finally announce a winner! 🙂🏆⭐ Malt Strategy (Comatch), Consultport and Consultingheads act as brokers between consulting clients and freelance consultants. These consulting marketplaces serve as a single touchpoint that clients can approach to screen for suitable freelance consultants that could support an upcoming consulting project. After you have joined these consulting freelance platforms, you then have a chance to get pre-selected and apply for a project. This way, you can get new clients as a freelance consultant without (or in addition to) building a personal brand. Financially, you typically earn more from such freelance work compared to your salary as a consultant at McKinsey, BCG and Bain.
