ICC Co-Founders Joanne Hunt and Laura Divine recently recorded a talk with ICC Teacher Steve Beckett for the recent Calling Our Circle online gathering of Integral Coaches™. We are honoured to share a part of this powerful conversation that draws on their deep experience and wisdom around continuing under all circumstances, but softly. As you may be aware, this is a topic very relevant and personal for Joanne and Laura in the midst of their heartbreaking personal circumstances. In her Zen writing practice, Joanne has long abided by the principle of “continue under all circumstances.” More recently, Joanne has inquired more deeply into this principle. What does it mean to continue under all circumstances, but softly… with understanding, recognition, and acceptance that our way of relating to our practices and our life can lighten when circumstances are heavy? Laura connects these questions and insights to what she has learned in her tai chi practice about being able to receive the energy and force of another person while still being able to move. Laura speaks about the capacity to stay receptive to the moment while still being able to move and take action, and how this is a subtle theme throughout the ICC Method.
