As the Luftwaffe bombarded British cities during the Battle of Britain and German forces swept across the continent, the United Kingdom established a highly secret interrogation center in the heart of London — a facility later known as the London Cage. Hidden inside elegant townhouses near Hyde Park, this facility became one of the most controversial intelligence sites operated by the British during the war. Run by MI19, the Cage held suspected SS officers, Gestapo agents, and high-ranking German POWs who were believed to possess valuable military intelligence. Under intense pressure to gather information about Nazi operations, British interrogators used harsh methods that pushed the limits of legality and ethics. Prisoners described prolonged standing, sleep deprivation, threats, and psychological manipulation — techniques intended to break resistance without leaving visible marks.
