Composed by Kevin Dean Kevin Dean - Cornet Al Mclean - Saxophone Mike Rud - Guitar Dave Watts - Bass This installment of Jazz, Period. was filmed in an early 20th Century Montreal church with perhaps the finest acoustics in the city. The Neo-Gothic ambiance inside the building soaks into the music here, with moody, nuanced performances on the Dean original. "Famous Last Words" was recently released on Kevin Dean's latest recording, "Message From the Dean" (Cellar Jazz, 2011), but is reprised here in chamber music format. We are all the beneficiaries of this beautiful performance; Dean is heard on a rare 1941 Conn 38A Victor Special cornet, and McLean on a 1927 Martin Handcraft curved soprano sax; both unusual instruments were put in their hands for this recording. Kevin Dean is professor, and a founding faculty member of the Jazz program at McGill University's Schulich School of Music (http://www.mcgill.ca/music).
