The Northamptonshire countryside offers some of the finest wilderness available. It’s a stunning evening as Ian Harford and Frederic Hanner are out stalking muntjac. Welcome to the Great British Shooting on Team Wild TV. Previously on Great British Shooting, we followed Ian Harford stalking Roebucks in Cornwall (Please click here to watch now: • Stalking Roebucks in Cornwall with Ian Har... ). For this exciting adventure Ian is hunting alongside his good friend Frederic Hanner, International Sales Manager for Sauer Rifles. Although fairly new to muntjac stalking, Frederic is ready for an eventful evening in the field. International hunter, Frederic is ready for an eventful evening in the Great British countryside. He begins his adventure on foot stalking for signs of animal activity. However, muntjac’s are difficult to spot on foot. This time of the year they tend to weave their way through the undergrowth, rarely offering a clear shot. A new tactic was needed, so Frederic sets up on a highseat. After setting up his Sauer 100 in 308 calibre along with the Sauer titanium mod, Frederic scans the area. There are plenty of signs of deer movement from this location. Further in the forest, Ian is checking over an area that hasn’t been accessed in years. Whilst here, Ian can identify signs of animal activity and take note of areas that need further attention. Effective deer management is a vital undertaking; it is about getting a clear idea of the deer population and the environment they inhabit. After patiently waiting in the highseat, Frederic hasn’t come across any muntjacs. He decides a new approach would be best and heads out on foot. He soon spots an ideal buck to harvest grazing in the distance. Frederic closes the gap by moving quietly and quickly; he sets up his rifle and prepares for a shot. Once the buck presents a clear view, Frederic squeezes the trigger and the buck is ethically dispatched. It has been another fantastic evening in the Great British Countryside.
