This episode, I am delighted welcome Acorn Amps back to the channel with their brand new Solid State Preamplifier! I did a demo for the original Solid State that you can find here, and I loved the tone in that pedal - that model has a higher price tag and it can actually power a real amp cab using nothing but a 9v pedal power supply! The Solid State Preamplifier gives you the two gain modes and three band eq of the original for a great price, as well as an added Thick switch to choose your low end oomph! This time around, the trade off is that you need to run it into an amp head, not direct to a cab. Acorn Amps' taste aligns with my own in what sounds best when it comes to gain and fuzz... this unit is a really special and I love the visual design and the translucent logo that lights up indicating if you are in the Normal or Saturation channel!
