In the 50+ years that RICHARD MASUR has been in front of Hollywood's cameras or treading the boards of Broadway, he has amassed the kind of character actor credits that puts him amongst the great support players of all time. Risky Business, License to Drive, Heaven's Gate, My Girl, Fallen Angel, Stephen King's It, My Science Project, Amazing Stories, Encino Man, And The Band Played On - just some of the 150-odd titles from a filmography rich in beautifully-crafted performances. His latest is the LA-set hipster/sci-fi/rom-com THAT ALIEN, SOUND, in which stars alongside newcomer Mia Danelle and longtime friend Amy Hill in director Brando Topp's debut feature, the charming story of a deep-space sound wave that inhabits the body of a young woman and helps her see the world around her in a different light. From New York City, where he is starring alongside Anthony Edwards in the play Prayer for the French Republic, Richard Masur spoke with Festival Director Simon Foster about helping to bring the low-budget feature to life; what it means to have the film travel to Melbourne for an international festival; spending seven hours with his head in a fridge while shooting It; and, his remembrances of time spent with part-wolf 'Jed' on the set of John Carpenter's The Thing. THAT ALIEN, SOUND has its International Premiere at the 2024 Melbourne Science Fiction Film Festival on Saturday February 24 at 1.00pm at Cinema Nova. TICKETS: https://www.cinemanova.com.au/films/s...
