SOUNDBITE: (English) Brian Cowen, Irish Foreign Minister "Well, no, it is not an unsolvable task. The situation is that we have state of collective political commitment by all of the leaders of the governments of this union that they intend finding a solution by the end of the Irish presidency, and last week we had the first resumed discussion in five months and we have some new ministers who are around the table who weren't around five months ago, let alone prior to that. Wide shot of meeting STORYLINE: 25 EU foreign ministers sat down for a new session of negotiations on the first-ever EU constitution. The meeting comes one week after talks failed to narrow deep differences over a constitutional draft, which should be finalised by the June 17-18 summit of government leaders. Irish Foreign Minister Brian Cowen, who chairs the meeting, remained optimistic Monday's session would be able make progress on "the most sensitive" issues declaring the situation "not unsolvable". Up for debate Monday was a new drive by Poland, Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Malta, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, backed by the Vatican, to push their demand that the Christian religion be mentioned in the draft. The place of religion in the charter's preamble has been hotly debated since negotiations on the constitution began in early 2002 and so far only gets an indirect mention.
