ONE ULFA (I) CADRE SLAIN DURING ENCOUNTER WITH ASSAM RIFLES; ARMS & GRENADE RECOVERED, DECEASED LINKED TO KAKOPATHAR ARMY CAMP ATTACK In a major counter-insurgency operation, Indian Army and Assam Rifles units launched a joint offensive on the night of 21/22 October in the MS-6 area of Namsai district, Arunachal Pradesh. During the operation, security forces made contact with suspected ULFA (Independent) terrorists, leading to a brief exchange of fire. With the onset of daylight, search teams recovered the body of one slain ULFA (I) cadre, identified as SS Sergeant Major Iwon Axom, along with one rifle, one RPG round, and three rucksacks containing various materials. According to official sources, the operation is still underway, with additional columns of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Police, and CRPF deployed to sanitize the area and prevent any further movement of insurgents. The deceased cadre is believed to have been involved in recent militant activities, including the attack on the Kakopathar Army Camp. Security agencies are continuing their coordinated efforts to neutralize remaining elements of the group operating in the region
