Donning & Doffing personal protective equipment in the home care setting is different than in a facility and requires more planning and understanding of infection prevention and control principles. This video includes principles of universal masking and eye protection. It is important to have a plan & think ahead: -On arrival to client’s home have PPE Essentials Kit ready, anticipate any additional precautions and PPE required. -Identify appropriate, safe donning & doffing locations -Ensure there is a garbage near the home exit and in your vehicle to doff your mask & eye protection as well as alcohol based hand rub ABHR and disinfectant wipes -What care will I be providing or supplies to should I have? An AGMP? While at your vehicle or outside the home: 1. Use ABHR to perform Hand Hygiene 2. Put on a medical mask or if required a fit tested N95 3.
