#bluewallofsilencepolice #tyrenicholsblackofficerscharged #tyrenicholsfiveofficersfired Season 3 opener, "Black and Blue", references the codified abuse of power in police culture aptly dubbed 'the blue wall of silence' as the backdrop of analysis in the murder of #TyreNichols and problematic implications on use of force, police reform, and disenfranchisement of the Black Community most targeted for police brutality and misconduct. Tyre Nichols (of Memphis, TN), a black man, was killed by black police officers by which "Black and Blue" explores the sociopolitical construct of said 'blue wall of silence' suggesting that it's not the race of the officer but the color of the uniform that contextualizes systemic anti-black racism and police militarization underpinning law enforcement. Five black officers of the Memphis Police Department (MPD) and Special Task Unit called "The Scorpions" have been terminated, criminally indicted, and jailed on charges of Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, Official Misconduct, and Official Oppression. The five officers charged in the fatal beating of victim, Tyre Nichols, were Taddarius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills, Jr., and Justin Smith. Two EMT workers, a Fire Department Chief and two additional MPD officers have since come under fire and relieved from duty in connection with the killing. Al Sharpton, civil rights leader, have called the five Scorpion Unit officers, quote, "A disgrace to our race." Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump leads the fight in #justicefortyrenichols with the goal of making police brutality and misconduct "economically unsustainable" for law enforcement organizations and country at-large. 0:00 Intro 0:19 Panel Intros 3:06 Tyre Nichols Murder 5:36 Panel's Initial Thoughts 15:06 Prayer 17:14 Black Community and Policing 29:41 Redlining 37:19 Police Education and Training 48:02 Tyre Nichols Murder (RECAP) 50:46 Chief C.J.
