Ripple is a small village 2½ miles South West of Deal in Kent, it is also occasionally known as Ripple Vale. In 1811 the property was purchased and turned into a beer retailer and grocer of the staple parish, having a licence granted to sell ales and cider only by the justices at Dover and in 1824 the property was registered as the Plough Inn, a name that has continued to the present day.
