I would guess there are a dozen ways to model and texture a maple leaf. Let me show you two – where the first one is instructive, but leads to a frustrating result, whereas the second one digs a little deeper into NURBS modeling and celebrates a sucess. The backdrop image I used for texturing is from wikimedia commons and was photographed by userFcb981:: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi... You might consider using an image with an Alpha Channel (which leads to the same result). If you continue working from here, try applying the same texture as a bump map! Warning: If you render the result of this tutorial in Arnold you get exactly what you did not want: a texture which is not fitted well on the surface. This is a bug, I guess, and certainly not our fault. You need to convert your maple leaf, once it's cut out, into a polygon in order to render it properly in Arnold. If one leaf is not enough, let me show you how to create a thousand, using MASH: • Maya: Many Autumn Leaves [MASH] The music, as always: "dubius 170" at the end, "Computer Animation" at the beginning.
