France offers modernized Leclerc XLR main battle tank to UAE

KNDS France is presenting the latest modernized variant of the Leclerc main battle tank, the Leclerc XLR, at the IDEX 2025 Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The first time France is showing its new main battle tank, a region where it continues to be a critical component of national defense strategies, is seen as a new step in the country’s increased export offensive in the defense sector in recent years. Part of the SCORPION Program, one of the most important and leading programs of the French Army, the Leclerc XLR has been redesigned to meet the demands of a new generation of combat. One of the most notable improvements of the Leclerc XLR is its improved firepower. The tank, which retains the 120 mm smoothbore gun of the previous variant, also has the ability to fire a new generation of programmable ammunition.
