This is our original vintage TAMIYA The FROG kit #5841 from 1983!! It was upgraded in 2010 with a combination of vintage parts and 2010 .50 Caliber Customs CNC all aluminum rear trailing arms by the amazing Don McAtee. We bought extra sets of the CNC rear trailing arms too as they are just beautifully made and the company is of no more! I heard he even sold off the remaining inventory and CNC files on eBay ions ago around 2015 :-( The much needed and custom hybrid THORP driveshafts matched to an all metal telescoping drive train. 1000% better than the stock driveshafts. Now 1 uniform telescoping piece of all metal art!Bulletproof IMHO and can go brushless!! On the original gears I had major problems with the dog bone driveshafts popping out and also stripping the weak pot metal/plastic differential. I ended up gluing the differential together as a whole piece!!! Have long upgraded to a THORP ball differential, ceramic ball bearings and added a mod to keep the gear side plates from bowing out too. Many OCD mods present!! Peek the many pics and have scanned our original FROG instruction manual along with the THORP differential and driveshaft paperwork!! Pondered brushless but NO :-) The Mabuchi RX540SD Technigold is more than enough to bash in the park. Our vintage Grasshopper is brushless and that one can do backflips on a fly!!! That will be in our future video. May have old videos on the Grasshopper in action along with many photos.
