We finally visited the iconic South of the Border roadside attraction off I-95 on the North Carolina / South Carolina line! In this vlog, we share a look at this legendary highway stop that opened in 1949 and became famous for its endless billboards, Pedro mascot, fireworks, gift shops, and the giant Sombrero Tower. On this visit: 🌮 We had lunch at the Sombrero Restaurant 🛍️ Explored the Mexico East gift shop 🍦 Grabbed ice cream from Pedro’s Ice Cream Shop 🛗 I rode the glass elevator up to the top of the giant Sombrero Tower observation deck to take in the views solo We also talk about reports that part of the property is currently for sale, including sections of the former amusement park area — though the main attractions are still operating.
