She always said he was the reason our family fell apart, and I believed her. I cut off my dad completely, thinking I was standing by the right parent… but oh, how WRONG I was. Fast forward to this year—my mom’s side of the family invited us to Thanksgiving for the first time in years, and let’s just say the truth finally came out. It came out that my mom played a major role in the family drama, and I realized she hadn’t been honest with me about the divorce. At the same time, I had been noticing weird behavior between my mom and my boyfriend, Jake. She’d started dressing up more whenever he was around, constantly asking for his help, and making little comments that felt way too flirty for my comfort. Then, while using her laptop, I stumbled across some messages between her and Jake that made my stomach DROP. The ultimate betrayal—from my own mom AND my boyfriend.
