And here's the second video of the Q35, this time with fewer Brooklyn stops and a significant reroute in Queens. (The lack of Riis Park service, unlike the lack of Newport Avenue service, is not because of the Queens Bus Network Redesign, but because the period of seasonal Riis Park service has ended for the year.) Seen here is a ride on 9168, a Nova Bus LFS operated by the MTA Bus Company, to the Q35's new terminus at the Rockaway Ferry Landing. Unlike the Q1, my reaction to this rendition of the Q35 is significantly more negative. Not only do I take issue with the partial stop removal in Brooklyn (the "removed" stops will still see overnight Q35 service), but Newport Avenue is more centrally located west of Beach 116th Street, particularly in the Belle Harbor neighborhood. To make matters worse, the community has repeatedly railed against taking the Q35 off of Newport Avenue, yet the planners kept insisting on it. Well, it's here, and it hasn't exactly left a good first impression in terms of superiority. It's certainly a straighter route, but that's about all it really has going for it. All it's really doing is serving as a stand-in for the Q22, which lost what remained of its service west of Beach 116th Street in the redesign. About the only thing I can say is good is that it now has the ferry connection, which was requested prior to the first QBNR draft (while demanding the route be kept on Newport Avenue). All footage was taken on September 2, 2025.
