Presenting a special video to end Season 1 of our "What the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Taught Me Series" through this beautiful praise of Prophet Muhammad (saw), written by Imam-al-Qurtubi. Join us in this heartwarming moment as a young Sidr School student recites a timeless qasida by Imam al-Qurtubi (d. 671 AH/1273 CE). This qasida, drawn from his poetic collection Ruh al-Ma'ani, beautifully depicts the noble attributes and radiant character of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Qasida Al-Burda (The Poem of the Mantle), known as The Burda, is a poem in praise of The Prophet ﷺ. It was composed by Al Busiri in the 7th century Hijri and is one of the most widely recited and memorised poems in the world. The actual title of the poem is The Celestial Lights in Praise of the Best of Creation (الكواكب الدرية في مدح خير البرية). Rooted in classical Islamic poetry, these verses offer praise for the Prophet’s (SAW) beauty, virtues, and the immense divine favor he was blessed with. Witness the innocence and purity of a child’s voice sharing a centuries-old tradition, connecting us all to the reverence of the past.
