While some found that Morrissey looked tired and the audience tame, others thought this concert was better than the earlier one at the Olympia. In fact Morrissey wasn't as much tired as he was falling ill, as he commented at some point into the show having the "Stockholm sniffles". Following a newly established tradition there was a sticker with a pun on the visited city's name on the gong. In Paris the sticker said "Paris a light that never goes out". There was no change in the setlist content, but most of the middle section was resequenced. Morrissey greeted his Parisian fans with "Poor people of Paris, good evening!" After set opener "I Want The One I Can't Have" he said "Whoever said pop music had to be tasteful? It's nice to see you again... it's nice to see Julia again... and me!" At the beginning of "Suedehead" he sang "Why do you come here? Why? Why? Why do you hang around?" Following "Little Man, What Now?" he thanked the audience "...for your signs" then said "We're all still... What? We're all still struggling with the Stockholm sniffles but we're delighted to be back in, really, the most beautiful city in the world (crowd cheers)... which is a fact, I'm not just trying to be kissy-kissy, it really is a fact and just try and deny it!" Of course fans who were at the Lyon gig the night before, when Morrissey advised the Lyonnais not to move to Paris, didn't know what to think of these contradicting comments. Over the opening bars of "Hairdresser On Fire" Morrissey bridged his latter comment to the song's opening line "Here is London, so much for London" with "speaking of..." After the song he said "That was a nice flashy solo from Alain... Nobody cares, nobody cares, don't mind me... I care!" Then the opening line in "Speedway" was extended to "and when you slam if you can! down the hammer". After that number Morrissey enquired "So these tickets were the same price as the previous concert, yes? Yes! No? Less? More? More? Alright..." He then introduced "The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores" with "Have you looked out your window lately? And would you agree the world is full of crashing bores?" After the latter number Morrissey announced "We had a very good time in Lyon, just in case you're interested. Everybody was very nice... well I know... well I know... it's a burden... Belgium? Belgium. Amsterdam? I remember Amsterdam..." He then jokinly introduced "Alsatian Cousin" with "This is a new song called 'Pomme Pomme Pomme', which means 'Apple Apple Apple'." The crowd favourite "Jack The Ripper" was strangely introduced with "This is another new song which is called (mumbles random foreign sounding sounds) which means... no it means... a quick translation is... no it means 'A Bench Of Tree Is Treed', wasn't that obvious? No. Wasn't obvious? (repeats funny foreign sounding words), 'A bench of tree is treed'... (giggles)..." Following "Jack The Ripper" Morrissey thanked the audience, said "You're very gracious..." then introduced "First Of The Gang To Die" with "One problem. And without any doubt whatsoever, I will be the first of the gang to die." Over the song's opening bars he added "'Cos somebody will kill me!" The latter number was very well received and Morrissey thanked the audience in French and said "You're being too kind! But we don't mind..." He then had a few words with his favourite fan in the front row: "Do you mind if I ask if you're okay? Alain, this is a private conversation... Yeah? It's not wearing you out too much? No? Oh no... I just crawl though life..." After "Everyday Is Like Sunday" someone shouted a request for "Pretty Girls Make Graves" and Morrissey, acting surprised, replied "'Pretty Girls Make Graves'? How does that go? 'Morrissey Makes Graves'? 'Morrissey Makes Graves'? What do you think it means? (Alain: it doesn't seem very nice) 'Morrissey Makes Graves'? Do I really, do I really make graves?
