In this video series, we walk through the process of using PixInsight to stack, preprocess, and process images of M33 — the Triangulum Galaxy. The images were captured using a ZWO ASI2600MC Color Pro camera attached to a Celestron 9.25 telescope, along with Askar’s Colour-Magic filters (C1–Ha & OIII) and (C2–SII & OIII). Session 1: Setting Up Your Environment Use a single folder for all your images to optimize drive space. Turn on your GPU(s). Learn where and how to locate the necessary tools. Session 2: Preprocessing I — Subframe Review Using Blink Session 3: Preprocessing II — Integration Integration using Weighted Batch Processing and recommended settings to improve results. Session 4: Preprocessing III — Image Cleanup Perform image cleanup using Automatic Background Extractor, BlurXTerminator, and NoiseXTerminator. Session 5: Preprocessing IV — Image Stretching Techniques Learn three different image stretching techniques using the EZ Processing Suite, Histogram Transformation, and Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch. Session 6: Processing I — Image Cleanup Apply gradient correction, background neutralization, and star separation using StarXTerminator. Session 7: Processing II — Individual Image Processing Break the OSC image into separate LRGB components, apply additional cleanup, perform background neutralization, and create a mask.
