#SCOSoundbites – Eighteen Songs of a Nomad Flute Concert: Virtuoso Series III: Winds Date: 25 September 2021 SINGuan Solo: Jin Shiyi Harp accompaniment: Fontane Liang Ancient tune, Arranged by Mao Kuangping and Hu Zhihou During the Han dynasty, Lady Cai Wenji was abducted by the Huns (Xiongnu) during the war and spent twelve years as the wife of their chieftain. She bore him two children before she was finally ransomed by Cao Cao and returned to her homeland. Adapted from the qin music of the same title, which was based on this historical background, the music depicts the miserable life of the female poet Cai Wenji. Tonight, this piece of music will be presented in a new combination of SINGuan and harp.
