The Azhdaya is one of the most terrifying creatures in Balkan Slavic folklore, representing absolute evil, destruction, and chaos. Unlike other Slavic dragons that could act as protectors or allies of humanity, the Azhdaya was seen as a purely demonic force, with multiple heads, devastating fire, and an insatiable hatred for humans. Its origins trace back to ancient Persia, linked to the demonic dragon Azi Dahaka, and its figure was absorbed and transformed by Slavic traditions over the centuries. With the Christianization of the region, the Azhdaya became the perfect symbol of the devil, appearing in religious legends as the monster defeated by Saint George. To this day, its name remains alive in the language and popular culture, being used to describe anything that is monstrous, destructive, and uncontrollable
