This video is part of the Farmers’ Organisations for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (FO4ACP) – Caribbean Programme, implemented by AgriCord and its member agri-agencies together with local farmers’ organisations in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Dominica. In this video, meet the members of Juan Cruz de Guaranal, a cocoa-growers’ organisation from Altamira in the Dominican Republic. With support from Trias, Acodea and CLAC through the FO4ACP Caribbean Programme, they created a community supply centre (Centro de Insumos) that gives farmers affordable, high-quality inputs without travelling long distances. The centre now serves surrounding communities, strengthens farm productivity, and shows how collective action improves both family incomes and local economies. From solar-powered cassava processing units in Haiti to youth-led honey cooperatives in Saint Lucia and women entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic, these stories show how farmers’ organisations across the Caribbean are strengthening livelihoods, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and building more inclusive rural economies. Through the FO4ACP Caribbean programme, more than 2,000 farmers improved their access to markets, finance, and sustainable farming opportunities. Each project was driven by local farmer organisations, focusing on economic empowerment, gender and youth inclusion, and environmental sustainability. This programme was funded by the European Union (EU) and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), and administered by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Implementation in the Caribbean was led by AgriCord and its member agri-agencies: Afdi (France), Acodea (Spain), Trias (Belgium), and UPA Développement international (Canada). 🎥 Produced by Trias Caribbean ©@triascentroamericayelcaribe in collaboration with local farmers’ organisations. 🌎 Learn more about AgriCord’s work supporting farmers’ organisations worldwide on our website: https://www.agricord.org/en and our YouTube channel: @FFP_AgriCord #WeAreAgricord #ClimateResilience #Agroecology #FarmersOrganisations #WomenInAgriculture
