HOMMAGE À LUCIANO BERIO | CLOSING CONCERT OF INTERNATIONAL CONDUCTOR MASTERCLASS OF PETER EÖTVÖS FOUNDATION (excerpt) Budapest Music Center 30 November 2019 Anna Molnár – mezzo-soprano UMZE Ensemble: Éva Osztrosits – violin Tamás Zétényi – violoncello Lívia Duleba – flute Péter Szűcs – clarinet Péter Kiss – piano conductor: Nicolò Foron In memory of Martin Luther King "Written in 1968 and scored for mezzosoprano, flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, this short piece is a tribute to the memory of Martin Luther King. The text simply consists of the enunciation of the black martyr’s name. The words and their components are submitted to a musical analysis, which is integrated into the structure of the piece. The voice enunciates the different phonetic elements of the name, which is gradually recomposed towards the end: “O Martin Luther King”." /Luciano Berio/ This concert will close the Peter Eötvös Foundation’s 2019 mentoring year with new pieces and young conductors from all over the world and it could give a nice idea about the whole mentoring year’s work. Guest professor, Hanspeter Kyburz will oversee the rehearsals of his own piece, Réseaux which will be performed for the first time in Budapest. Before the concert a one week intense conducting masterclass will take place at Budapest Music Center led by professors Peter Eötvös and Gregory Vajda. The whole concert will be live streamed via the Youtube-channel of the foundation. https://annamolnarvoice.com / annamolnarvoice http://umze.hu / umze-ensemble-679954605736708 http://www.eotvosmusicfoundation.org / petereotvosfoundation
